<aside> 🤢 The drive from Naples to Ravello has extremely windy roads so we suggest booking a “comfort van” and taking dramamine and ginger!

There are a few ways to travel to the Amalfi Coast.

First, get to Naples.

✈️  Fly directly to Naples (Recommended)

For the most direct route, you’ll want to fly into the Naples airport. There aren’t often direct flights to Naples from the US, so be prepared to catch a layover or 2.

✈️ Fly into Rome → 🚆 Train to Naples

Some people may opt to come through Rome first. Flights are a little cheaper, and you can explore a bit of the city if you add a day or so. You can book a train here, and it takes between 1-2 hours. The Rome to Naples train takes you south through Italy’s scenic Lazio and Campania regions. Most trains on this route are direct, however some regional trains stop in Latina or Cassino. You may be required to change trains if you’re traveling on one of the slower, less expensive regional trains.

Then get to Ravello.

How you get there is up to you.

🚖 Taxi/Van from Naples → Ravello (~90 minutes, €130–150 total)

Recommended option

You can usually prebook your a ride to Ravello through your Airbnb host, or your hotel. It costs about €130–150 one way. We’d suggest asking for a “comfort van,” which is basically a van that drives a little slower and has a bit more room. This will help with the windy roads. This route usually goes along the backside of the Amalfi coast, and will drop you off directly in Ravello, skipping the even windier Amalfi coast road.

🚌 Bus from Naples → Ravello (€7 per person, ~2 hours)

Cheapest option

Brian has taken the bus around the Amalfi coast before, and has never been more carsick in his life. If you choose this option, godspeed. It’s cheap though. You can book your ticket ahead of time here.

⛴️ Ferry from Naples → Amalfi → 🚖 Taxi to Ravello (~2-3 hours, ~€40-80)

Most scenic option

This is actually a fairly pleasant way to reach the Amalfi coast. You get a chance to get out on the water, and will get dropped off at the port in Amalfi. The ferry costs about €30 per person. From there, grab a taxi (€50) or hop on the local bus (€2 per person) and head up to Ravello.

🚆 Train from Naples → Sorrento → ⛴️ Ferry to Amalfi → 🚖 To Ravello (~3hrs, ~€30–80).

If you want to see Sorrento.
